Percussion Stars in Flamenco Rhythms

The concert will be streamed live online.

Hot-blooded rhythms and tempestuous passions, as well as elegance and flirtatious restrain, age-old traditions and new revelations. The captivating rhythms of the nuevo flamenco pioneer Paco De Lucia come together with the magical melodies of the ambassador of nuevo tango Astor Piazzolla, and Ernests Mediņš and Arturs Maskats also have their own take on these styles. Carmen adds a fiery spark to the mix, and the French musical giant Emmanuel Sejourne brings dazzling virtuosity. Such splendour and diversity can be found in the new Perpetuum Ritmico concert programme Percussion Stars in Flamenco Rhythms.

Founded in 2014, Perpetuum Ritmico is the only continuously actively performing percussion ensemble in Latvia. All of the musicians of the ensemble - Guntars Freibergs, Mikus Bāliņš, Elvijs Endelis and Ernests Mediņš – are performing percussionists that have polished their craft in Latvia and abroad. In their performances, Perpetuum Ritmico bring together a very diverse assortment of styles – from folk to different popular music styles to avant-garde… Also noteworthy is the surprisingly wide array of percussion instruments they use, taking listeners to an infinite sonic, timbral and atmospheric world. Anyone open to new musical adventures can expect being surprised and taken on a journey to a unique sonic dimension.
