SHIPSEA. In Symphonic Light

“SHIPSEA. In a Symphonic Light” will showcase the creative world of SHIPSEA – the musical project of singer-songwriter and producer Jānis Šipkēvics. The concert will feature original music by SHIPSEA, the most popular tracks from SHIPSEA’s albums “Apgaismo mani” (Enlighten Me) and “Lielās cerības” (Great Expectations), as well as works by other composers performed by SHIPSEA, such as Peter Gabriel’s iconic “Don’t Give Up” and beloved Latvian composer Imants Kalniņš’ song “Apvij rokas” (Entwine Your Hands).
In this concert, SHIPSEA’s music will have a distinctive twist as he will be joined by special guests – the Sinfonietta Rīga chamber orchestra conducted by Normunds Šnē and an instrumental group featuring guitarist Miķelis Putniņš, bass guitarist Kārlis Josts, percussionist Rūdolfs Dankfelds and keyboardist Toms Mikāls. The music will be enriched with vocal encores from singers Una Daniela, Gabriēla Zvaigznīte and Linda Rušeniece.

“I must confess that a solo concert in the Dzintari Concert Hall has been one of my great dreams. It is slightly thrilling, it’s a challenge and it's incredibly tempting to imagine what we will sing and play on such a big stage. It will certainly be a breathtaking evening with an orchestra of the greatest magnitude – Sinfonietta Rīga led by Normunds Šnē. I have been waiting for such an event since the magical summer evenings when my musical journey with the vocal group Cosmos kicked off in Dzintari. It was a lifetime before today, but still seems so alive, relevant and musically captivating. I look forward to reconnecting with this feeling, the scent of the sea, and you, my dear listener,” SHIPSEA says about the concert.
